Akihabara is one of the most famous, busiest and most interesting streets in Tokyo, you should definitely not miss it! You will find shops focused on electronics, manga, anime and video games here, including the Tokyo Anime Center. The genius loci here stands out especially in the evening, when the streets are filled with people even more than during the day and the lights of advertisements and shop windows start to shine.

If you are planning to buy some electronics in Japan, I recommend visiting this place. There are a really large number of electronics stores here. Don’t forget to take your passport with you when shopping, because then you can take advantage of Tax free purchases (from 5000 yen).
From Akihabara Street, you can walk to Ueno Park in about 30 minutes, where there are several other interesting places to visit:
- Tokyo National Museum
- National Museum of Western Art
- National Museum of Science and Nature
- Tokyo Art Museum
- Ueno ZOO (apart from many interesting animals, the biggest attraction here is the giant panda)
